Beyond the mundane tasks of lunch packing, schedule juggling, and general life organizing, moms are kickass individuals just like the rest of us. Who knew?! (We kid, we kid. We’ve always known moms are badass.) We’ve put together some handy gift suggestions in case you’re stumped on what to get yours. (No doubt she is also a total baddie.) And please, for the love of mothers, trust us when we say that no truly great Mother’s Day gift ever came from a gas station. OK?! Now, join us in celebrating some of our Flamingos’ remarkable moms and their incredible hobbies and accomplishments.
Roberta, Joe’s mom from Customer Service, has ridden her bicycle in all 50 states, completed the BIG 26.2-miler in NYC, been to the Iditarod, lived in Alaska for over 20 years, and has traveled all over the world, from New Zealand to Mongolia. (We’re going to suggest she have her middle name changed to “Adventure.”)
Rainbeau (our Senior Editor and Post Production Producer) learned the art of beekeeping with her mom, Brenda. Their garden flowers never looked so good as when they were actively beekeeping. (Guess all those stings were worth it for the honey too, eh Rainbeau?!)
Jean (mom to our Marketing Manager, Kelley) is a nurse and helper to her core, always ready to help someone in need, from her kids to neighbors to total strangers. As a mother of an incredible daughter with special needs, she has also been a helper and advocate for this often overlooked community.
As a little boy, Brian (our Director of Retail Experience), told his mom, Mary, that he was sad his dad wasn’t home to play catch. She told him to grab his dad’s mitt and she would play with him instead. He was stunned when she actually did it! (YES, Brian, girls CAN play baseball!) “The amount of life lessons she taught me in that one moment I still can’t measure. I’ll always remember that game of catch with my Mom.”
Our Senior Sports Marketing Manager, Steele, says his mom, Beth, is the ultimate hostess. Every occasion gets themed baked goods made from scratch. For school birthdays, it was soccer ball cupcakes for class. Neighborhood Christmas parties? Dozens of tins filled with multiple cookie options, homemade toffee, brownies, and loaves of cranberry bread…We could go on, but we gotta go shake Steele down for some sweets.
